Grades 4-5

The years between childhood and becoming a teenager are significantly defining and sometimes gracelessly awkward.  In a period of a thousand transitions, they need a safe place to explore and express themselves apart from Kids Ministry or Youth Ministry.  Connecting fourth and fifth graders together as one, The Bridge will unify and involve preteens at Good Shepherd during a stage that typically sees their sudden disengagement in the Sunday morning class or the Sunday evening one.  Because of the strong bonds they will form in The Bridge, these students will be prepared to enter Big House with a solid foundation of fellowship, accountability, and ownership of their personal beliefs.

The Bridge meets on Sunday a.m. at 10:00 in Room 124 and Sunday evenings in the Outhouse from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  These two hours will encompass a meal, live worship, a message, and time for reflection in small groups.  Your preteen can also look forward to mini mission trips, lock-ins, paintball, mystery excursions, and serving their community.  Through a new and exciting Sunday School curriculum,  (check out www.group.com/grapple), your preteen will “grapple” with issues that their age deals with most.  MyGrapple.com creates a safe on-line web community for The Bridge to connect with one another, play fun games, and vote on activities for the following week.

The Bridge will encourage and enable your child as they take personal responsibility for their decision to follow Jesus and live in His Way.  Welcoming the doubts, questions, and struggles of these students, The Bridge will invite your preteen to engage in the lifelong discussion of what following Him looks like.  Because The Bridge is for the students, their voices and opinions are essential to its continual reshaping.  Surely we can anticipate great things from our God!
